Long Vbar with Removable Ends

Removable (detachable) ends are a very popular option. This allows you to remove the Vs by just pulling a simple tool-less pin. This option is great for gas mileage, parking garages (Vs add 10.5 inches to your crossbars), spouses who do not fully appreciate the beauty of my design etc. It is also great for the confused paddler who needs to swap ends to accommodate her SUP, marathon canoe,  round hulls (Ski, OCs, Shells).  Another underutilized benefit is the ability to buy multiple bars, and place them on multiple cars. This way, you just slide the ends into whichever car is last in the drive. The down side is that the Detachable rack can rattle a little when there is no boat loaded. And, the ends are a little cantankerous to store. I use a Classic rack for everyday hauling, and keep 3 other Detachable bars on the roof for whatever comes down the pike. The standard bar is 6 feet with one foot ends for a 8 foot rack. (please see the Hatchback Special if you have a lift-gate). If you are hauling a tandem, or any boat over 22 feet, leave a note when ordering, and I can ship up to a 8 foot bar.
